Hi, everyone! Welcome to Week 3 of my November Triple Take! Today, you’ll be getting all three looks in one post. Our “victim” is the above sweater dress from Avenue. When you hear “sweater dress,” it often brings to mind heavy fabric and something reserved for only the coldest of days; however, this dress is about as thick as a t-shirt, and I selected it because it’s versatile enough to be worn alone or as a layering piece. So, let’s check out the first outfit, shall we?

Outfit #1: Bundled Up

Vest: Lane Bryant (old, similar) / Leggings: Avenue / Boots: Jessica London

Outfit #1 is casual and meant for a chilly day. I’ve had the above vest with faux fur collar for about five years now, and I often wear it as opposed to a full jacket because it feels less constricting. Combined with knit leggings and boots, this outfit is perfect for an ordinary day of running errands or even something more adventurous and outdoorsy like going on a hike.

This outfit is more business casual than the first, and the pops of leopard makes it a little wild. I see the spacedye pattern in the dress as more of a texture than a print, so I treated it like a solid color – not that there’s anything wrong with mixing prints! There’s a bit of a controversy at the moment in the body-positive, plus size fashion world about emphasizing a high waist, as I do with this obi belt. The former rule of thumb was to show off the smallest part of your silhouette in order to “dress for your shape.” I’m of the belief people should cinch their waists wherever they choose…or even not at all! I usually opt for the high-waisted look because I like to give even my most modern dresses a retro ’50s or ’60s-style shape, and it has nothing to do with flattery.

Skirt: eShakti / Tights: Jessica London / Shoes: Zappos (similar) / Necklace: Charming Charlie (similar) / Brooch: Stein Mart

With holiday parties in the very near future, it’s easy to see that one thing missing from many evening ensembles is…warmth! While it’s simple to throw on a big ol’ coat over your LBD, this layered look will also have you covered if there’s a chill in the air. The full skirt, sparkly accessories, and floral patterned tights are dressy enough for even the fanciest of get-togethers, so you won’t be under-dressed for the occasion or the weather.

Triple Style Take, Week 3 : Coming Soon!

Hi, all! I’m switching things up a bit for this week’s November Triple Take. Instead of using three posts to show you three looks with the above dress from Avenue, I’m going to show all three outfits in one post later this week. The weather over the last couple of days hasn’t been great for picture-taking, but things are looking sunny now, and I’m sure I’ll get some nice shots for you all. Thanks for reading, and see ya again soon!

Striped Midi Skater Skirt from Torrid

Looks like we made it! We’ve reached the final day, and Outfit #3, of the second week in my November Triple Take. I’ve been styling the skirt above from Torrid in different ways perfect for a fall wardrobe.

For the week’s first outfit, I went retro by adding a peplum top, and on Day 2, I opted for a classic style with minimal accessories. Today, I’m getting extra mileage from a summer top:

Crop tops aren’t just for warm weather! For this look, I was inspired by Tanesha from the blog, Girl With Curves. In her post, “Cropped,” she layers a crop top over a classic white shirt to create a more conservative look. Since my top is a solid color, I decided to layer it over a blouse with a fun print and interesting collar.

DSC_2080yes_FotorI also chose to tuck my sheer blouse into my skirt because their patterns clashed when layered together. One of my favorite parts of this skater skirt is the waist, which can be worn lower or higher depending on the look you’re trying to achieve. I can show a bit of belly when it’s warm (like I did here) or keep it under wraps when the weather gets cooler.
