cool-gal-blue-6-full-windMy name is Becca, and I’m a grown woman who enjoys wearing tutus. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I want to tell you all about one of my new favorite online stores – one that is on the verge of something revolutionary. Cool Gal Blue is bringing honesty to fashion from its consistent sizing to the authenticity of its models. At the helm is their creative director, Jessica Kane. You may know her from her blog, Life & Style of Jessica, or as the founder of Skorch Magazine.

The #WEARETHE95PERCENT Campaign Presented by @CoolGalBlue in response to the fact that only 5% of American women naturally possess the body that is presented as “ideal” in advertising. Kane and company flaunt their fabulousness for the “We are the 95%” campaign in Cool Gal Blue’s new Curves in the City lookbook. The campaign addresses the statistic that only 5% of American women have the “ideal” body which is prevalent in the media. Since 100% of women deserve to be represented and to feel confident, Cool Gal Blue does things differently than many other plus size retailers.

cool-gal-blue-1-medEver have the problem being one size in one brand and a different size in another, even at the same store? Cool Gal Blue practices “Honest Sizing.” While they get their clothes from a variety of places, they hand measure each item and size it accurately so you don’t have to worry about anything running too big or too small. At the moment, they don’t offer every style in every size, but there is a large selection above size 24, and I’ve even seen a few items in 30 and 32.

cool-gal-blue-3-medThe main reason I started blogging is I never saw any size 28s modeling the clothes I’d like to buy. Most plus size models fall into the 12/14/16 range, and of course these ladies are all beautiful, but the lack of diversity gave me no clue as to how clothes would look in my size and on my body. Lucky for me, Cool Gal Blue has models in a variety of sizes, and the coolest part is they don’t Photoshop any of them! Booties, bellies, and rolls are left as they are IRL because us regular girls have them, too.

Realistic models and honest sizing shouldn’t be such cutting edge ideas, but I’m glad Cool Gal Blue working to make them the new normal. I hope other brands follow their lead. Viva la tutu!

I love it when my friend, Crystal, volunteers to take pictures for me – especially when it involves a trip to New Orleans! When she suggested a picnic themed shoot in City Park in front of the New Orleans Museum of art, I was so in. This outfit is a little bit Minnie Mouse and a little bit pin-up, and I think it’s perfect for our pretend picnic!

Blogger Style – Pinup Girl Clothing’s Junebugs and Georgia Peaches Collection

This post contains affiliate links. If clicked and a sale is made, I receive a commission. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that make Super Style Me possible!DSC_3491It’s a no-brainer that fashion inspires bloggers, but every once in a while it’s bloggers who inspire the brands we all know and love. Remember Nicolette Mason’s capsule collection for ModCloth? The next bloggers to try their hand at a fashion line are Junebugs and Georgia Peaches’ Amanda and Katie, otherwise known as Modern June Cleaver and Amelia Jetson. If you haven’t done so already, you should check out their blog. It’s chock full of southern charm, a little kitsch, and the best in retro clothes and accessories. I’ve learned so very much from them as I’ve grown my little dress collection. While they’re not a plus size blog, many of the brands they work with come in a variety of sizes, so there’s a little something for everyone.

DSC_3483For weeks now, I’ve been obsessively watching my Pinup Girl Clothing wishlist for the Junebugs collection to become available. They’re not releasing the whole line at once. There are several dresses available now and other items, including some separates, that are on their way. When the Amanda Dress went on sale, I knew I had to have it! It’s offered in a few different colors, but I chose the Baton Rouge Black and Pink combo because a) I’m a Louisiana girl, and b) it transitions well from summer to fall. Can’t you just see it with a cute little cardigan?

DSC_3495I only order from Pinup Girl Clothing once in a blue moon. While I often look at their site and want “all the things,” I have to be somewhat selective because they’re a bit pricey. However their clothes are worth every penny because they’re so well made. You can tell everything from the fabric selection to each and every seam is done with utmost care and attention to quality. If you have a choice between getting three less expensive dresses or one PUG dress, go with the PUG because it will last you through many seasons without any signs of wear and tear. They don’t call ’em investment pieces for nothin’. Also, they don’t have sales often, but when they do, they’re big. Their “yard sales” are legendary, and I’m glad they’re doing them online now because California is quite a trip from where I am.

DSC_3486Here are my other favorite pieces from the PUG Junebug and Georgia Peaches collection:

Dee Dee Dress in White and Peach Gingham

Little Jun Jacket in Pale Turquoise Blue

Dorothy Dress in Red with Black Trim

Junebugs Dress in Squirrel Print – Squee!!!
